| Hello Neighbors, Wishing you all a happy, healthy June and a happy Pride Month! As we enter our final stretch of time together, I want to thank you for all your patience and partnership. Representing District 3 has been the honor and experience of a lifetime, but I’m not done yet and don’t plan on slowing down. My team and I are working diligently, day in and day out, to ensure a seamless transition for the next councilmember. We’re doing everything we can to hand off real momentum and make sure no pending issue(s) gets left behind. So please, continue reaching out. The more we know, the more we can pass on to make sure your next representative hits the ground running as effectively as possible. And don’t forget to vote by mail or in-person on June 24th! Next Tuesday the Mayor’s June Budget Message will go to Council for a final discussion and vote. Before that, the Mayor and Council will hold a public hearing on Monday at City Hall at 6pm, to provide one more opportunity to share insight on YOUR city budget. |
The Council is voting soon on an agreement to remove over 30 billboards from our city streets. In exchange, electronic billboards would be installed at three locations along freeways. A 10-to-1 trade sounds good to me. If you would like to learn more and ask questions, join us Wednesday, June 11th 6:30pm to talk with me, our city staff, and reps from the electronic billboard company. We will all come together in a Zoom video conference. No registration required. Click this link to join us
Wed. evening: Join us on Zoom
The month of June is jam-packed with exciting events taking place across downtown.
Head to Parque de los Pobladores for Wepa! Fest on June 12th. This event is a vibrant celebration of our city’s rich Puerto Rican culture. This radiant fiesta is filled with salsa dancing, live music, incredible food, and tons of community spirit. Later in the month, make sure to stop by the Juneteenth Festival, also in the SoFA District. This annual event celebrates Black culture in our city with food vendors, live performances, and plenty of opportunities to connect and celebrate the historic holiday. Also coming up is the first-ever 3-on-3 basketball tournament at Plaza de César Chávez, Slam San Jose! Whether you’re a seasoned player or just want to play for fun, there are team categories for all ages and genders. Register HERE. And don’t forget Viva Calle this Sunday in East San José.
Like I said, we’ve got just two months left together, so let’s make them count.
I’ll see you around the district!
