INSTAGRAM: This is Megola, one of the strangest motorcycles ever built.

In early-1920s Munich, Fritz Gockerell and Hans Meixner chased a wild idea: move the engine out of the frame and put it inside the front wheel.

The result was clever, compact, and unforgettable. Five cylinders lived in the wheel itself, pulling the motorcycle forward without the usual chain-driven layout.

But brilliant engineering still has to survive real streets. Starting, stopping, and controlling the Megola in traffic became the hard part.

A reminder that innovation is not just about making something possible. It has to work for the rider.
