Homeless Veteran Housing Community

CINDY CHAVEZ SAYS “NO†TO 4 PROPOSED SITES ON SANTA CLARA COUNTY FAIRGOUNDS (SCCFG) TO BE USED TO HOUSE HOMELESS VETERANS!

Per one of our readers- Two and a half years ago Cindy Chavez was presented with an opportunity to create affordable housing for homeless veterans in Santa Clara County. This privately funded project, would use under-utilized SCCFG property instead Chavez said “WE HAVE OTHER PLANS FOR THOSE SITESâ€.

After 35 years of nothing of significance being done at the SCCFG, Chavez turns down the opportunity to potentially house over 300 homeless veterans out of the 659 that currently live on our streets and creeks in Santa Clara County. Over 60+ veterans are currently waiting for housing with HUD vouchers that can’t be housed due to the lack of affordable housing in Santa Clara County. Currently Santa Clara County have upwards of 90 acres of unutilized land at the SCCFG sitting untouched for well over 30 years.

Yet Cindy Chavez voted to use $76 MILLION in Covid -19 funds for bonuses of county employees. What makes us believe Cindy would do any different as MAYOR?

Below please find snapshots of what proposed sites for this privately funded project would have looked like.
